The Bairnsdale Hospital carpark in Day Street was resurfaced over the last weekend of October 2023.

The works were conducted by Fowlers Asphalting, who also completed renewal of all line marking. Fowlers were able to minimise the impact on hospital parking by staging the works over the two days, with visitors to the area asked to observe construction signage and directions from the contractor, including following traffic management direction in the precinct during the works.

The product used to resurface the car park is made predominantly of recycled materials derived from waste streams, such as soft plastics, glass and toner, which would otherwise be bound for landfill or stockpiled, and is branded as Reconophalt. This is Council's first use of this product and demonstrates our commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility, aligning with our growing emphasis on green infrastructure and eco-friendly urban development.

All new painted pavement markings shall receive two applications of paint. The second [final] application of paint will be applied in approximately 4-6 weeks, when the initial application is cured. Closure of the car park will again be required to complete the second application and notification of the closure will be advised, when the schedule has been organised.
