Project Update - 18 December 2023

The height of the new pitch will match the height of the new finished turf.

The new pitch

The pitch has been installed in the new location and oval height by Council's works crew. The synthetic grass has been ordered and is scheduled to be installed late March 2024. A wicket cover will be placed over the new pitch to protect it from the winter sports.

The site has been surveyed and designed to provide a new longer and wider oval, resulting in an even surface and shape for drainage.

A civil contractor has been engaged to start stripping the existing surface and re-profiling the oval to new heights; with approximately 900 m/3 of soil to be placed on top.

The irrigation system will be installed once the new surface levels have been obtained; the irrigation lines will be connected to the existing water storage tanks and controlled from the pump shed. New oval drainage lines will be installed on parts of the oval surrounds and connected to existing infrastructure.

Next step

Approximately 6000 m/2 of new maxi-roll turf will be installed over the new profiled areas. The maxi-roll turf will help expediate growth of the turf and limit the number of joins in the new surface.

Oval fencing and goal posts are also to be installed.
