The upgrades to the Peppercorn Park oval are now complete.

We are pleased to announce the completion of the upgrades to Peppercorn Park, marking a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to enhance recreational facilities within our community. These upgrades were meticulously planned and executed to provide our community with an additional high-quality playing surface and address the need for more training space.

Key enhancements include:

  • replacement of the existing non-compliant hard wicket cricket pitch with a brand-new one, strategically relocated to the centre of the oval.
  • expansion of the existing oval to 130m x 110m, along with an additional 4-meter run-off for improved player safety.
  • extensive ground works to enhance the quality of the playing surface, ensuring optimal conditions for sporting events
  • installation of a new irrigation system to sustain the lush greenery of the field, even in adverse weather conditions
  • AFL goal posts added to diversify the range of sports activities available at the venue.

These upgrades have allowed for the second oval to be used to its full potential, encouraging participation and further opportunity high-level competition.

East Gippsland Shire Council is proud to deliver this project for our community which was made possible thanks to the financial support of Sport and Recreation Victoria.

An official opening celebration is scheduled for 18 July 2024 at 5pm at the Bairnsdale City Oval - 20 MacArthur Street, Bairnsdale
